I am house sitting for my neighbors while they go on vacation, and am charged with caring for their pet bird. It’s a little canary looking thing I can’t remember the name though.
The first 5 days the thing was chipping away and doing just fine.
But the last 2 days it just isn’t acting normal. I’ve tried music, singing, and all kinds of other stuff to cheer it up. All it does is just lye there sleeping on the bottom of the cage. It won’t even eat any of the treats I had put in there.
Is there anything I can do to cheer up the little guy before they return in 2 days?

Often when someone looks after a bird for someone else they do not know a few things or arent tolod enough before the people go on holidays. People will look in the birds seed dish and think its full but sometimes its only full of seed husks. You must give fresh food every day even if it looks like there is already some in the dish. I am hoping it isnt starving due to you thinking there may be seed in the dish when there wasnt.
Try to not have the bird in a draught and only feed the treats that have been approved by the owners of the bird.
Bottom of the cage indicates illness, not depression and in need of cheering up. The bird sounds sick and there must be a reason for it. -

Put him in a place called tv. My bird was depressed to with staying home and i had to hit school, I just think they need entertainment like television so they could watch it, Also the bird could be left depressed. It does take a while for the bird to consider getting used to you at first it could take longer than it week, it did for me to get used to my baby girl.

awwwwww!!! birds find it difficult to adjust into new places.as u said, she was fine in da first 5 days and now i think she is missing her family.why dont you get her a few toys just to cheer it up?? or call her owners n ask dem how dey used to play wid her.
bcoz u said dat she sits on da floor of da cage it might even be a health issue. if all of da above fail take her to an avian vet and change her diet.
NO chocolate, avocados, salt, sugar and very little seeds. more of green vegetables and lots of love, attention and playtime!!! i hope this helps:) -

If the bird that you are watching over is hanging around the bottom of the cage for long periods of time and is not eating, its not depression,…its an illness that your bird has.
